On Tuesday 17th March it was announced that Public Worship would have to stop until further notice. For the time being, there can be no Baptisms. Weddings can be either postponed or kept to very simple spoken ceremonies with only the couple, the Priest and two witnesses present. Arrangements need to be made for funerals to be as simple and safe as possible for everyone at crematoriums or cemeteries with Memorial Services to take place at our churches when things get back to "normal".
If you or any of your family, friends, neighbours would like prayers, conversation or support please contact Rev Liz on 01373 473249 or by email - [email protected]
Christ Church is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO), Dr Sarah Eyles. The Diocese of Bath & Wells’ safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
We are continuing and will continue to work as the Church from our homes even though our communities are "locked down". Holy Week and Sunday services can be viewed on-line via our web site www.christchurch-stmarys-frome.co.uk
While our churches are currently closed, we still have to pay insurance and the parish share to the common fund which pays the stipends of our Clergy who are all continuing to be active in their service despite the unprecedented circumstances. Without the regular contributions to the collection plates at our Sunday services and fees from occasional offices (weddings, Baptisms and funerals), our finances are inevitably “taking a hit”. If there is any way you can offer to our churches any contribution no matter how small, please contact Richard Pinnock, our treasurer on 07946 614464. If you usually make your offering into the collection plate, it would be most helpful if you would consider changing to monthly direct debit.
With many thanks for your support.
