Opening

The church is normally open every day 9am-5pm (9am-3pm in winter) and visitors are very welcome to look round as well as to join our services. (During the Covid19 pandemic the church is open for private prayer on Thursday mornings)

Getting here

St Nicholas Church is part of the Benefice of St Nicholas, Bathampton and St Mary's, Claverton. We are a welcoming and friendly family church serving the village of Bathampton, 2 miles from Bath.

Our identity is that: We are a church focused on Jesus so that we love one another, serve the whole parish and touch the world.

The church contains the grave of Arthur Phillip, the first Governor of New South Wales, Australia. We host a service each October near the anniversary of his birthday to honour his life, which is attended by various dignitaries usually including the Australian High Commissioner or their deputy, as well as children from the local school. The tower area contains a display recalling Phillip's life including his connection with Bath.
