Lent is  the 40 day period when we remember and reflect on the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness. On this first Sunday in Lent we enter a period of reflection, and our service of Morning Praise at Christ Church focuses on Temptation and our need to stay true to our calling. Please join us at 10.30am for our service in the Iona tradition

Our service will be followed by light refreshments, as we catch up on news across the parish, so please come and join us.

Our Readings are:

Genesis Chapter 2 verses 15-17 and Chapter 3 verses 1-7   Eve is tempted by a serpent in the Garden of Eden.

and Matthew chapter 4, verses 1-11  Jesus is tempted by the devil.

´Lord Jesus, you were tried and tempted by the forces of evil. May we never be ashamed of temptation, but save us from the weakness of giving way to it. Help us choose the way of faithfulness rather than popularity, service rather than fame, sacrifice rather than power.
In time of need, reassure us that your support is close at hand.
