The Paschal Candle symbolises the risen Christ, his light dispelling darkness, and the new life of hope and resurrection found through baptism. Lit at Easter, its design includes the cross, representing Christ's sacrifice and victory. It will be used for baptisms, funerals, and other ceremonies starting with the Easter 2026 season. When a candle is lit from the Paschal candle and given to a baby's parents, it symbolises that faith is passed on to the child. Revd Jane's gift of the candlestick and candle will ensure that her time at St Mary's, Chedzoy is remembered whenever the flame is lit.
