St John the Evangelist Church and Church Hall,Waterlake Road, Tatworth, TA20 2NZ
St John's is the local Parish Church covering Tatworth, South Chard, Perry Street, Chard Junction, Chilson and Chilson Common.

St John's is a friendly welcoming Church which is opened every day between 10am and 4pm and everyone is welcome to come into Church to pray, light a candle, sit quietly and take photographs as well as sitting in the grounds of the Church.

   The Church was built as a chapel of ease for Chard in 1851. The foundation stone was laid in June 1851and the consecration took place on Tuesday, September 9th, 1851 by the Bishop of Jamaica (as the Bishop of Bath and Wells was unable to attend owing to illness)  

Tatworth and Forton were part of the ecclesiastical parish of Chard from 1851 when the church was built until 18 September 1866 when St John's  became the parish church of Tatworth, while Forton remains within Chard ecclesiastical parish.
