About Us

As a Church we have three key priorities, to worship God, to serve others and to strive for fairness.  Find out more below!

Worshipping God

We want everyone in our community to feel welcome at The Minster and to discover ways to connect with God. Worship enables us to shape our lives around the love we have come to know in Christ Jesus and to give thanks and praise to our loving God. We have many ways to worship within the benefice; Holy Communion services on Wednesdays and in homes, Morning Prayer on Zoom, All Age Worship and Meditation and Roots & Shoots (outdoor church). Why not try something that’s new to you and experience God in a fresh way.

Serving Others

God calls everyone as disciples of Christ to contribute to the life of the church and community. All of us have been given gifts with which to serve our friends and neighbours. So don’t hide your light under a bushel but come and join in - being part of a team is great fun! Sharing our love for our neighbours includes serving our communities, by:

- caring for our buildings as valuable community assets and ensuring that they remain open to the public as places of prayer

- providing opportunities for people of all ages to gather together and share fellowship, for example through Memories Cafe and Minster Minis

- running the local Foodbank and Food Share

- hosting the annual Christmas Tree Festival, raising funds for local charities and other good causes

Striving for Fairness

As Christians, both individually and as a church, we should long to see God’s justice throughout the world, speaking up and responding to the needs of those who may be marginalised in society, or go unheard. Within our benefice we have particular concern for:

- protecting and cherishing God’s earth and all God’s creatures

- the wellbeing of local producers and wider business community

- Fairtrade producers around the world - we are a Fairtrade Place of Worship

- inclusion - we are an Inclusive Church

- other charities locally, nationally and internationally
