The Kiosk Project

Following a presentation to Ilminster Town Council earlier this year, where we shared our vision for a church-run refreshment kiosk on the Recreation Ground, we have been provided with the keys and permission to commence operations from this summer. This will build upon our monthly Roots and Shoots (Outdoor Church) sessions and provide a more regular Christian presence among the users of this popular play area and public open space.

We will not only serve drinks and snacks, but provide a listening ear for anyone who needs it, offering prayer if appropriate.

To ensure that all local residents and visitors can make full use of the local facilities on the Recreation Ground, we will hire out picnic blankets, tennis and table tennis rackets, balls and equipment for other field games.  And, to encourage care for creation, we will provide a litter picking station in conjunction with Green Ilminster.

As our volunteer team grows, we hope to respond to a locally identified need for detached youth work, with the Kiosk providing a perfect launch pad for this.

There are a range of ways that you can help:

- Pray for the project and the volunteer project team.

- Offer practical help and advice ahead of opening.  Perhaps you are a tradesperson willing to offer a couple of hours work free of charge, or you have experience of running a food and beverage business.  Either way we would love to hear from you!  Please contact Natalie on 07746 727002.

- Contribute to our community fundraising target of £5000 towards initial start-up costs.  Why not donate the cost of a cuppa until we can brew you one on the Rec?! You can make a donation online here or perhaps you would like to sponsor an item of equipment.

- Register your interest in becoming a volunteer baker, or join the team serving drinks and snacks with a smile!  All volunteers who serve in The Kiosk will need to be Safer Recruited and safeguarding trained, but we can talk you through what this involves and support you along the way.  Use our contact form and select 'Other' from the Subject dropdown menu.
