The Beatitudes: A Lent Course

Every Friday at 7:30 p.m. for 1hr 30m

Church Street
Kingsbury Episcopi

This year’s 5 week Lent Course is Life Attitudes: The Beatitudes, written by Robert Warren and Sue Mayfield. The Beatitudes focus our minds on what makes us truly happy. These eight short verses are a rich mine of resources for living. They call us to “live the kingdom – now”, and to encounter God’s blessing as we do this.

Throughout history, Christians have seen the Beatitudes as a key part of Jesus’ teaching, in them Jesus encapsulated the key characteristics of those who seek to embrace his kingdom. Moreover, Jesus modelled the Beatitudes himself on his earthly life. The sayings are both the template by which he lived and the definition of what it means to follow him. In describing the characteristics of those who will inherit and inhabit the kingdom of God (both now and in eternity) the Beatitudes describe the “likeness of Christ”
