In the last week of term, the pupils from Rockwell Green school were welcomed to the church for three special Christmas celebrations. It was the first visit for reception class, so they explored the font, lectern and altar, enjoying asking Revd Andy Barton questions about the things they could see. They were excited to find their own tree in the Christmas tree festival, displaying decorations they had made from natural materials. They took part in a short crib service, using figures to retell the Christmas story, and joining in a song and a prayer.Key Stage 1 and 2 classes held two separate celebrations for family and friends, who were treated to refreshments provided by a team from church as they waited for the children to arrive. Combining acting and beautifully clear reading, all the children took part in presenting the Christmas story and singing a number of well known carols. Key stage 2 classes shared the joy of Christmaswith a variety of beautiful songs they had been practising for the occasion, and led a time of prayer. Revd Andy gave a short talk and blessing at each service, inviting the families to join in upcoming events at their church, and many returned on Christmas Eve for the Crib and Christingle.
