Classical guitarist Francisco Correa presents music for flute and guitar by composers from his native Colombia (and the Latin American continent), alongside his wife, British flautist and mezzo soprano Emily Andrews, including several works written especially for them. These pieces mix classical and Colombian folk styles, drawing heavily on the rhythms and dances of central Colombia, such as the Bambuco, the Pasillo and the Joropo, but using more complex harmonies than traditionally used in folk music. The resulting music is worthy of world recognition on the concert stage while remaining undeniably Colombian.
This event is jointly with our sister church St Mary's West Buckland and it will be held in the village hall at West Buckland. Tickets are limited so make sure you get yours early.
