Holy Communion from the Book of Common Prayer

Occuring
Every Sunday at for 40 mins
Venue
The church of St Leonard, Hythe
Address
Oak Walk Hythe, CT215DP, United Kingdom

Our first service every Sunday morning is a quiet and reflective Communion service, using the words of The Book of Common Prayer (BCP). There is no music or hymns, and there is often a short reflection or homily related to the day's Bible readings. A small congregation meets in the choir stalls, which are accessed by the steps that lead up to the high altar of St Leonard's, but it is possible to enjoy the service from the pews and chairs on the main floor of the church.
The service is quiet and reflective in tone, using the much-loved and poetic language of the BCP week-in and week-out. This is a traditional, gentle, deeply spiritual form of worship; an ideal way to begin your Sunday.

Parish Communion

Occuring
Every Sunday at for 1 hour, 10 mins
Venue
The church of St Leonard, Hythe
Address

This is our main Sunday service: Holy Communion with hymns and a sermon, robed choir and clergy. Our worship at this service is quite formal but relaxed. The words are taken from the Church of England prayer-book "Common Worship," and we sing hymns from the New English Hymnal, accompanied by a magnificent Harrison organ. The choir lead our hymns, and also sing a motet and communion anthem during the service, but we give our choirs a holiday break on August Sundays.

Children are welcome. There is always somewhere for adults to sit with children who don't want to be in the pews or chairs amongst grown-ups, and there is usually some organised activity for young children of primary school age, focused on Bible stories, but if you need to be sure this is happening, please contact us first to check.
If you want your children to worship with you, they're always welcome in the congregation, but maybe the best day to come is the first Sunday of the month, when our girls' choir is featured, the worship is a little more relaxed, a little shorter, and more oriented towards a family congregation.
