Accessibility
Parking is available on the land surrounding the church directly outside the churchyard gate.
There are no steps into the church. Equally, access to the museum in the churchyard is step-free - there is a ramp.

You can purchase CDs - one is of the tombstone inscriptions plus an analysis by name, by property and by location in the churchyard while th second lists Baptisms 1813-1916, Marriages 1813-1916 and Burials 1913-1916 plus Marriage Bonds 1770-1824.
Souvenirs available too.

In the museum is a table with a brass plaque for rubbing. Bring your own materials!
Help for Visitors
Many visitors want to trace their ancestors so there is a log of every gravestone (by location in the churchyard, by person's name and by property name). It additionally has the inscriptions clearly recorded of every tombstone
There are two booklets - one on the Bewcastle Cross and the other about the community and its history

Other Features
Home of the early 8thC world-famous Bewcastle Cross, signifying the presence of an Anglo-Saxon monastic community from around the time of St Cuthbert. Accompanying museum explains the history of this ancient site, a Roman Fort 7 miles north of Hadrian's Wall, probably on the site of an earlier Celtic temple or centre of worship.
WE have been recognised as a Fairtrade church and have recently been awarded bronze status by Eco Church. Eco Church is a learning community of churches of all shapes and sizes open to all denominations. It provides a framework to support our church and its leadership to take practical action on caring for God’s earth, through the Eco Church survey. The survey covers five key areas of church life Worship and teaching, Buildings and energy, Land and nature, Community and global engagement and Lifestyle.
We are working actively towards being carbon neutral by 2023 which is a Church of England target.
