This essential maintenance work is to remove the more modern mortar and replace it with traditional lime morater to help keep the building dry, free from damp and ensure it is preserved long into the future. Parts of the building date from 1277 using stone taken from the Roman fort.

Generous grants from the National Churches Trust in partnership with the National Heritage Lottery Fund and the Archbishops’ Council scheme called the Buildings for Missions MR&I Grants Fund match donations from supporters have made this work possible.
