On Sunday 27 September The Reverend Canon Geoffrey Ravalde led a lovely Harvest Festival Service at St. Michael’s. The Church was beautifully decorated, with flowers, fruit, vegetables and bread, together with tinned and packeted foods, all of which reflected a joyful harvest theme. Following the service all the food was gathered together and delivered that week to Carlisle Foodbank. On Tuesday 6 October the Church was packed for two Harvest Festival Services for Burgh-by-Sands School, led by The Reverend Ian Johnston and attended by parents and carers who enjoyed a wonderful celebration of harvest by the School’s pupils, who had worked very hard in preparation. The children sang harvest songs, read Biblical passages relating to harvest and gave thanks for the bountiful gifts which harvest represents.
