The Annual Act of Remembrance will take place on Sunday 8 November, led by The Reverend Ian Johnston. The service starts in St. Michael’s Church, at 10.50 am with a procession across to the War Memorial. The names of the Fallen of the World Wars will be read out, poppy wreaths will be laid on behalf of the Church and Burgh Parish Council and the Two Minutes’ Silence will be observed at 11 am. Following the Act of Remembrance those attending may leave, or may return to the church for a service of Holy Communion. Everyone is warmly welcomed to join in remembering those who gave their lives in both World Wars.

St Michael's, Burgh

Our 12th-century village church stands on the site of a Roman fort on Hadrian's Wall. It is quite possible that there was a Christian church here as early as the 4th century.

We seek to love God and our neighbours through our worship and witness. We hold a variety of services to suit everyone, and we would love you to come and visit us. Please use the Services and events tab to see what we offer, and when.

Our church building and our congregation exist to serve everyone in our parish, and beyond. If you wish to arrange a Christening, a marriage, or a funeral, you are warmly encouraged to contact our Churchwarden.

If you would like to find out more than you see here, please do get in touch.

Our Benefice

Safeguarding

Our parish and congregation is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops' guidance and policies and we have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed, or may be at risk of harm, please contact the PSO, Sheena Douglas, at [email protected] or on 01228 576690.

The Diocese of Carlisle’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contact details for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor, Joanna Van Lachterop, who advises our PSO. She can be contacted at [email protected] or at 07458 016884. Joanna’s working days are Monday to Friday. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
