Church of England Diocese of Carlisle Great Salkeld

St Cuthbert - Great Salkeld

An old village Church - in the centre of our community and for our community. We have a reputation for offering a very friendly welcome to all.

We are an 'open church'. Our door is never locked, and the building is still open for private prayer. Please use hand sanitiser before and after using the church door, and observe social distancing if necessary.

For Services and other events: There are services in  our church building most Sundays. If no services at Great Salkeld there will be one in a nearby church in our group-at Lazonby or Kirkoswald. Visit the 'Services and Events' page  of this website to see details of these, We also have Friday morning prayers of blessing for our community- in the churchyard in good weather, or on Zoom if raining: contact Peter Pickthall for details. The 'News and Notices' page also lists other events and resources.

For general enquiries, please contact Peter Pickthall, Churchwarden, as listed below.  If not available, or for general pastoral support  or queries about weddings baptisms or funerals please contact Rev. Katharine Butterfield on (01768) 898176. Email: [email protected] (Day off: Monday).

Great Salkeld

On Friday mornings, for just half an hour, we meet to pray God’s blessings on our local community. This starts at 9 a.m. and we are meeting together at St Cuthbert's Church, Great Salkeld -outside if possible but otherwise by Zoom if raining. Contact Peter Pickthall for the link, if needed.
At present some are also choosing to pray individually in their own homes. All over the country similar groups are praying at the same time. This is a positive way of praying for the community - especially in the current Coronavirus situation.
A copy of the Friday Blessing Prayers is attached as a PDF file that can be upload - click on 'view attachment' below.
