An old village Church - in the centre of our community and for our community. We have a reputation for offering a very friendly welcome to all.
We are an 'open church'. Our door is never locked. We also have a toilet and a small kitchenette where you will find tea/coffee/milk/sugar - please feel free to use the facilities.
There are services in our church building most Sundays. If no services at Great Salkeld there will be one in a nearby church in our group-at Lazonby or Kirkoswald. Visit the 'Services and Events' page of this website to see details of these, We also have Friday morning prayers of blessing for our community- in the churchyard in good weather, or on Zoom if raining: contact Peter Pickthall for details. The 'News and Notices' page also lists other events and resources.
For general enquiries, please contact one of our Churchwardens Peter Pickthall, (Tel. 01768 898396, email; [email protected] ) or Veronica Priest (Tel. 01768 898026 email: [email protected] ). Safeguarding - "The parish of Great Salkeld: St Cuthbert is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer, (PSO). The Diocese of Carlisle’s safeguarding pages also contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who can advise our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services."
A copy of our Safeguarding Policy and contacts, can be found on this website under the heading "Parish Safeguarding Arrangements" on the menu list. Our Parish Safeguarding Officer is Julia Downie 01768 898868
