St. Peter's Church Gala Saturday 27th June 2026
We have been celebrating the Gala for at least 64 years this Year.
Pictures of all former Gala Queens since 1962 are displayed in Church – St. Peter’s Lindal
Church is open every day 10 to 4pm for you to see them.
Calling all former Gala Queens -
We would love any former Gala Queens to join us on the day.
They will have free entry and a complimentary strawberry tea and an opportunity to share their memories of their special day.

St. Peter's Lindal Church Gala
Saturday 27th June on The Green, Lindal in Furness
Our Gala Queen Layla will open the Gala after the tradition parade from Church at 1.50pm.
The parade will be led from Church, by the retiring Queen, Olivia and her entourage, accompanied by Dalton Town Band.
There will be:- delicious Strawberry Teas
Big raffle, Home baking,
Tombola, Books and cards
Bran Tub,
Children's games.
also featuring Dalton Town Band and Lily the street organ.
Admission £1, Children free.
Church Gala Day
This year Gala day dawned amidst the now familiar heat. Undaunted, we set up under the welcome shade of the trees.
When all was ready, the retiring Gala Queen Olivia led the procession from Church around the Green, followed by the soon to be crowned Gala Queen Layla and a happy band of children, friends and family, whilst Dalton Town Band played joyfully for them. Layla then gave a rousing speech to open the Gala.
Whilst browsing the stalls we were entertained by the band and then Lily the Street Organ played merrily till the last event of the day, The Lindal Mile - a series of races for all ages around the Green.
The Green and Hall were full of well-wishers welcoming the new Queen, sampling the strawberry teas and catching up with each other.
We were especially heartened by the number of people who attended on the day to keep the Gala tradition going. We are fortunate indeed, with your help, to preserve such an event, creating happy and lasting memories.
The Gala raised just over £1149. An amazing sum which will go towards the upkeep of the Church.
We send a huge thank you to everyone for their generosity, time, energy and enthusiasm. It was a pleasure to see old friends and new working tirelessly together to make our Gala day so special.
