140th Anniversary of the Consecration of St. Peter's by the Bishop of Carlisle in 1886

Meet at Church on Wednesday 8th July 2026 at 10am

We plan to encircle the Church with as many arms as possible

to give the Church the biggest hug we can muster,

to give thanks for its presence in the heart of the village.

There will also be a chance to find out why the Mines and School help to tell the story -

Explore the Baptism and Marriage Registers from 1873, 

See photographs of the children and their teachers in 1887

See  the men who worked the mines by hand in 1885

and discover how the abundance

of high quality iron ore, transformed Lindal and Marton.

This special day will not come round again so please come if you can.
