As far as we know, this was the first ordination to take place in St Bridget's Church - in recent years ordinations have taken place in the cathedral. It was a splendid and happy occasion. As well as Bishop Julie, those who took part included the Archdeacon of Chester, the Dean of Chester, and the Diocesan Director of Ministry. Priests from our own ministry team joined in the laying on of hands (pictured). For more photos, see Ordination of Priests | Chester DioceseWe pray for Ruth and wish her well for her future ministry.

We are pleased to be able to use the newly permitted prayers for same-sex couples. From March 2026 we will have a service of prayer and thanksgiving on the second Saturday of each month at 12 noon. As well as an opportunity for anyone to pray for current concerns, and give thanks and ask for God’s blessing, we can also offer couples the prayers of love and faith in celebration of same-sex marriage within this service.
