Church of England Diocese of Chester Backford

St Oswald, Backford

St Oswald, Backford welcomes people of faith and none as we seek to discover God's will for our lives and follow and grow as disciples serving God and our community.

This is the Parish Church for the villages of Backford, Mollington, Chorlton, Caughall and Lea-by- Backford.

Sunday Services are currently suspended on the advice of the Archbishops and the Government to do our part in combatting the Corona Virus. However, church is not 'closed' we are currently working out how we do church under changing circumstances. Church services for Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals continue where possible along with regular prayer for the community and the worship of God. Numbers of people that can gather at any one time will have to be restricted.

To build capacity for care in the community please expand your phone contact list to include the elderly and those not engaged in social media.

The parish of Backford: St Oswald is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Chester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
