hildren are really important to us, and it’s important to us that young children feel at home in their church which we know will come with some noise and energy depending on their mood!

Each Sunday we have some fantastic provision for our children. Normally, they will join us at the start of the service and then go out with Dee and her team to enjoy their own session and let off some much needed steam! Sometimes we have a fun filled family service (for things such as Harvest) at which point they stay in, playing a full part in all that’s going on.

For those younger, and indeed, for any children who would prefer to stay in the service there is a children’s area where they can explore all that’s on offer during the service. Also, as they get older, many of our children play an active role in our services by doing things such as reading and being the acolytes (carrying the candles) which we love!

After the service, we all gather for coffee and biscuits, and our children get well and truly spoilt!

Church is a wonderful way for children to get comfortable speaking to a wide range of people, and gives their adults some space to reflect on the week and get a hot drink too at the end of it!

On during term time. In the holiday, activities are provided for our children within the service, and yes, we like their noise!

Alty Trebles!

Occurring
Every Monday at for 1 hour
Venue
St George
Address
Church Road Altrincham, WA14 4TT, United Kingdom

We are delighted to have established a Children’s Choir ‘Alty Trebles’ held in school on a Monday afternoon: in other words, we’re offering free musical tuition that will last your child a lifetime!

Music is an integral part of our life at St George’s. We have seen many examples of how a good musical education has changed the lives for young people for the better. Rev. Claire remembers her time at Bradford Cathedral, when she and her husband saw many of the young choristers form wonderful communities and then go to prestigious Universities on Choral Scholarships – a journey that started in Primary School. We are very keen that pupils from our Parish have the same opportunities.

Therefore, our choir will be fun, it will be developing teamwork at a young age, and giving each child the experience of that buzz as their voices harmonise with each other. Our choir is focused on teaching our pupils how to sing properly, how to read music, and for those that want it, they will be fully prepared to sit the relevant ABRSM exams; setting them up for any musical adventure that they want to peruse in secondary school.

Lots more information on our website - come and be part of it!

During Term Time only. We also encourage our children to sing in our main choir on a Sunday morning at 8.30am too.

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at St George's?

Our Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) is an opportunity to look back on all that has happened over the past year, celebrate what God has been doing among us, and look ahead to the exciting opportunities and challenges that lie before us.

We'll hear reports on the life of the church, elect members of the Parochial Church Council (PCC), and share plans for the year ahead. Whether you've been part of St George's for many years or have only recently joined us, this is a great opportunity to find out more about the church's life, ask questions and help shape its future.

Everyone is warmly invited to attend, and we'd love to see you there. Together, we'll celebrate all that has been, give thanks for those who serve so faithfully, and look forward with hope to the year ahead.

Thy Kingdom Come – A Time of Prayer for Our Community
Each year, Christians across the world join together for Thy Kingdom Come, a global wave of prayer between Ascension Day and Pentecost. What began as an invitation from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York has grown into a worldwide movement, with millions of people praying for their communities, friends, and families.

At St George’s Church Altrincham we will be marking this special season by creating space for prayer in a variety of ways. Everyone is warmly invited to take part – whether you pray regularly, haven’t prayed in a long time, or aren’t quite sure where to begin.

What is Thy Kingdom Come?
Thy Kingdom Come is a time when Christians pray especially for God’s kingdom to grow in the world and in the lives of those around us. It is a simple but powerful invitation: to pause, pray, and seek God’s blessing for our communities.

During these days, people across the world are praying the same simple prayer that Jesus taught his followers: “Thy kingdom come.”

I’ve never prayed before…
That’s absolutely fine - why not use this time as an invitation to give it a go? Prayer doesn’t have to be complicated or formal. At its heart, prayer is simply taking a moment bringing our thoughts, hopes, worries before God - no special language needed!

During Thy Kingdom Come, our church will be open to provide quiet and creative spaces to help people pray in their own way. You might like to sit quietly for a few moments, walk the prayer labyrinth, light a candle, or simply pause to reflect.

Ascension Day Service – Join Us for This Special Moment in the Christian Year

You are warmly invited to join us for our Ascension Day service, one of the most important, although sometimes overlooked, festivals in the Christian calendar.

Celebrated 40 days after Easter, Ascension Day marks the moment when the risen Jesus returned to heaven in the presence of his disciples. It is a day that reminds us of hope, promise, and Christ’s continuing presence with the Church.

Ascension Day has been celebrated by Christians for centuries and offers a beautiful opportunity for reflection, prayer, and thanksgiving in the days between Easter and Pentecost.

Whether you come regularly or have never been to an Ascension service before, you will find a warm welcome and a thoughtful, uplifting service.

Come and mark this important moment in the Christian story here at St George’s.

Sunday 24th May is a special day for the Church – it’s called Pentecost, and it celebrates the moment when God sent His Holy Spirit to be with us.

It’s often seen as the "birthday" of the Church – a time when everything changed, and people were filled with hope, courage, and purpose.

Even if you’ve never heard of Pentecost before, it’s all about new beginnings, unity, and the amazing things that can happen when we become open to faith and hope - if that is something that you might need right now, come and be part of it.

This Father’s Day, we would love you to be part of our Father’s Day service as we gather for a special service of reflection and thanks.

For many, Father’s Day is a joyful opportunity to celebrate the dads, father figures, and mentors who have shaped our lives. For others, it can be a quieter or more complex day; a time of remembrance, or simply a moment to reflect.

In our service, we will take time to give thanks to God for the gift of relationships and for the ways we have been supported and shaped by others. There will also be space for reflection; recognising that not everyone’s story is the same, and that Father’s Day can stir a range of emotions.

We recognise that experiences of family are varied, and that Father’s Day may bring feelings of both gratitude and loss. Our service is a gentle opportunity to gather, to share in hope, to find community, and to be reminded that in God’s presence we are not alone.
