We are delighted to have established a Children’s Choir ‘Alty Trebles’ held in school on a Monday afternoon: in other words, we’re offering free musical tuition that will last your child a lifetime!

Music is an integral part of our life at St George’s. We have seen many examples of how a good musical education has changed the lives for young people for the better. Rev. Claire remembers her time at Bradford Cathedral, when she and her husband saw many of the young choristers form wonderful communities and then go to prestigious Universities on Choral Scholarships – a journey that started in Primary School. We are very keen that pupils from our Parish have the same opportunities.

Therefore, our choir will be fun, it will be developing teamwork at a young age, and giving each child the experience of that buzz as their voices harmonise with each other. Our choir is focused on teaching our pupils how to sing properly, how to read music, and for those that want it, they will be fully prepared to sit the relevant ABRSM exams; setting them up for any musical adventure that they want to peruse in secondary school.

With the sunshine (hopefully!) here to stay, our friendly toddler group, Tots & Tales, is heading out and about for the summer months.

Together we'll be exploring some of the wonderful family-friendly places in and around Altrincham; from local parks and playgrounds to welcoming cafés, and perhaps even a trip to the beach if the weather is on our side!

Each week we'll keep an eye on the forecast and announce our next destination on Sunday evenings via our social media channels, so be sure to follow along for the latest updates.

Whether you're a regular at Tots & Tales or thinking of joining us for the first time, we'd love to welcome you. It's a great opportunity for little ones to play and explore, while parents, grandparents and carers enjoy friendly company and conversation.

A friendly and simple said service followed by Coffee Break. A great way to re-orientate yourself mid-week.

This PAYF group using movement and dancing to help your little one express themselves and let off some much needed steam!

In the meantime, you get to be part of this friendly, relaxed group and make some friends along the way.

This is held in the Old School Building (next to the church building, and just behind the funeral directors)

Drop into the Parish Centre for a coffee and a chat - a warm welcome awaits you, whether it's your first time or hundredth!

Come along to this friendly group - if you knit, enjoy sharing patterns and skills. If knitting isn't yet your thing, you could learn a new skill, or, if you prefer, just come along for the natter! We sometimes branch out on a Friday night to the pub as well....?!

Our Youth Group, Pathway, is a wonderful space to hang out and relax, but we also want to offer a space where we can have good discussion and really wrestle with all the very good questions that young people often think about!

So here is Mettle!

Mettle is the place to explore faith We talk about big themes and big ideas but also play some great games and activities! There’s even pizza and ice cream (and some healthier stuff too !). All free.

We are partnering with Bowdon Church, and so the venue will alternate each week. Do encourage anyone you know to come along – sign up link below!

(Note that we start around 3.45 pm – this is to give students from all the different schools time to get there – but feel free to turn up as soon as school ends)

A support group for parents of children with SEND
Term Time only

Parenting can be quite a path to negotiate, even more so with children that have SEND. So, after many conversations last year, we’re going to put together an informal group where we can share experiences over a cuppa and support each other along the way.
We’re not professionals, and although we’ll invite the SENCO from Altrincham Primary School to chat now and then, it will mainly be us just listening to each other and offering lots of support and encouragement.
You don’t need to come to church on a Sunday, or have a child of a particular age – open to all. Please do spread the word.

We hold a Friday Evening Eucharist at 5.30pm in church.

It is a simple, ‘no frills’ spoken service, with space to reflect on the week, and set ourselves up for the weekend. Do come and be part of it whether you are full of faith or full of questions, or are just seeking some space at the end of the week to pause and reflect.

Do join us for this said service of communion. This is a small, friendly community where we get to fully enjoy the beauty of the church first thing in the morning.

Our choir meets every Sunday morning at 8:30am, and then, for those that wish, stay to sing at our 9.30am service. So if you sing, or would like to give it a go, why not head down to church and be part of this lovely and friendly community?

hildren are really important to us, and it’s important to us that young children feel at home in their church which we know will come with some noise and energy depending on their mood!

Each Sunday we have some fantastic provision for our children. Normally, they will join us at the start of the service and then go out with Dee and her team to enjoy their own session and let off some much needed steam! Sometimes we have a fun filled family service (for things such as Harvest) at which point they stay in, playing a full part in all that’s going on.

For those younger, and indeed, for any children who would prefer to stay in the service there is a children’s area where they can explore all that’s on offer during the service. Also, as they get older, many of our children play an active role in our services by doing things such as reading and being the acolytes (carrying the candles) which we love!​

After the service, we all gather for coffee and biscuits, and our children get well and truly spoilt!

Church is a wonderful way for children to get comfortable speaking to a wide range of people, and gives their adults some space to reflect on the week and get a hot drink too at the end of it!

The Church of England is in every community, and has been helping people mark the significant moments of life for generations.

Christenings are a wonderful way to celebrate the gift of a child - do get in touch to explore it more and book the date for this very special celebration!

Each year we celebrate the wonderful moment of Confirmation – and we’d love you to be part of it.

Confirmation is a joyful and significant step in the Christian journey. It’s an opportunity to affirm for yourself the promises made at your baptism – whether those promises were made by you as an adult, or by parents and godparents when you were younger.

It’s for people of all ages and stages. Some have grown up in the Church; others have discovered faith more recently. Wherever you find yourself, Confirmation is a chance to say “yes” to God in a personal and meaningful way.

It doesn’t mean you have all the answers, or that your faith is perfect or complete. None of us does. Instead, it’s about taking a step forward – marking a moment in your journey and being prayed for and encouraged as you continue to grow in faith.

If you or your child (usually from Year 6 upwards) would like to explore this next step, we would be delighted to hear from you.

After many years away, we were thrilled to return last year with a float — and we had an absolute blast! The event is now in its 59th year and remains one of the largest free family celebrations in Trafford. The weekend includes a grand parade, plus two days of fun featuring fairs, entertainment, and stalls for all ages.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, celebrate, and enjoy everything this special event has to offer. Why not join us and be part of the fun? Everyone is welcome!
