On Sunday 15th March we’ll be gathering to celebrate Mothering Sunday — a day that’s about more than cards and flowers. Traditionally it was a time to return to your “mother church”, a chance to reconnect, to come home, and to remember that we belong to one another.

It’s a day to give thanks for all those who have cared for and encouraged us — mums and grandmums, step-mums and foster mums, godmothers, mentors, friends and all who show us something of God’s love. We also know this day can feel complicated or tender for some, and we’ll be holding that gently too.

If you’re here most weeks, we can’t wait to celebrate with you. If it’s been a while — or you’ve never been before — why not make next Sunday the day you come along? You’ll find a warm welcome, friendly faces, and space simply to be.

A place to be with God:

Express, grow and explore your faith.  We are a welcoming community of faith that seeks to honour the traditions of the church in a way that revives, refreshes and equips us for our life in the present, and helps guides us for the opportunities & challenges of the future.

A place for everyone to belong:

We are a multi-generational community, drawn from all walks of life.

During the winter months we will often talk about how we are a ‘warm’ church both in terms of the temperature, but, more importantly, in our welcome as people come explore life at St George’s at their own pace.

We welcome everyone, regardless of what age you are, how much noise you (or your children!) make. If you, or your children, have special needs we will seek to work with you to make sure that St George’s is a place you can call home too.

A living, active community:

We believe that our faith makes a difference to how we live and work. We are committed to serving our parish and beyond during the week. Do come and be part our coffee mornings, Knit & Natter & Soup Lunch – regardless of whether you come to our services or not.

Safeguarding: At St George’s Church we work hard to maintain a safe environment for all. We are committed to implementing the House of Bishops’ safeguarding policies and good practice guidance. If you have any concerns or enquiries regarding safeguarding, please contact our safeguarding officer.

The Diocesan Safeguarding team can be contacted at [email protected] or 01928 718834 (option 4). Please note, this is between the hours of 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Out of Hours Support: The Diocese of Chester partners with thirtyone:eight and you can access their Safeguarding Helpline if the Diocesan Safeguarding team are unavailable. Thirtyone:eight can be contacted on 0303 003 1111.

This also includes any safeguarding queries outside of office hours on weekdays and weekends. An Information Sharing Agreement between the two organisations will allow the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser to receive a copy of the advice thirtyone:eight may offer the caller.

In the case of an emergency: If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Service.
