New Service Pattern

Church_news Notices

The Parish of Congleton is introducing a new pattern of Sunday services from Sunday 3rd October 2021. The Parochial Church Council (PCC) has agreed to hold a contemporary service for all ages together at 9.30 a.m. and a more traditional style of service at 11.00 a.m. both at St Stephen’s Church, Brook Street, with everyone coming together for refreshments at 10.30 a.m.

The 9.30 a.m. service is something new and different for the people of Congleton. It will make it easier to come as a family or as an individual to church and is particularly suitable for those coming to church for the first time. There is ample parking across the road in the Thomas Street Car Park. The 11.00 a.m. service is particularly suitable for those who like a more traditional church service with a mixture of hymns and songs old and new.

As we come out of the restrictions made necessary by Coronavirus measures he pray that this change will enable both existing members and newcomers to re-engage with church.

These arrangements will continue for a period of 12 months. St Peter’s Church remains open as the town church for Civic Services, baptisms, weddings and funerals, and other mid-week services and events besides special services around the main Christian festivals. St John the Evangelist, Buglawton, and Holy Trinity Mossley, also remain available for baptisms, weddings and funerals and occasional services around the main Christian festivals.
