Ascension Day celebrates Jesus's ascension to heaven after he was resurrected on Easter Day. This is the first of three public services that are held in the chapel during the year.

We are reviving the old custom of marking the boundaries of a church parish by walking round them and hitting the ground, or certain boundary marks, with long sticks. Please see the parish magazine for further information.

This is the Sunday nearest to the feast of St Peter when Swettenham Church will celebrate its foundation and dedication to St Peter.
We hope that as many friends of St Peter's, old and new, along with members of the other Rural Daneside Churches and the wider community will join us for this friendly service - a real celebration of village, church and community.
Light refreshments will be served following the service.

Today we celebrate the first fruits of the harvest. Communion will be taken with a freshly-baked loaf of bread which represents the first of the gathered-in grains. It is combined with the Rose Queen and Oak King ceremonially returning the Oak Sword and Oak Sceptre to church as their final official act, although they will visit a few other fetes before the Marton Wakes.
After the service, we will serve a soup and sandwich lunch.

The service where we will give thanks for the Marton Wakes Fete, a traditional fete held on the penultimate Saturday in July every year, and which has been running for at least 125 years.

All the congregations of the Rural Daneside Churches will come together at St Michaels' Church, Hulme Walfield to celebrate their patronal festival on this fifth Sunday of September. All welcome.

At this evening's service, you are invited to come and remember those of your loved ones who have died. Everyone will be invited to light a candle in remembrance.
