Ash Wednesday service at Marton Church

Occuring
for 1 hour
Venue
St James & St Paul, Marton
Address
Congleton Road Marton Macclesfield SK11 9HE, United Kingdom

This evening, there will be a special Ash Wednesday service at the Church of St James and St Paul, Marton to which everyone is invited. The Right Revd Sam Corley, Suffragan Bishop of Stockport will be at the service.

During the service, the minister will place ashes on each worshipper's forehead in the shape of a cross. The ceremony shows that a person belongs to Jesus Christ, and it also represents a person's grief and mourning for their sins — the same sins that Christians believe Jesus Christ gave his life for when he died on the cross.

Refreshments will be served after the service.

Holy Trinity Chapel at Capesthorne

Welcome to the chapel of the Holy Trinity, Capesthorne, in the parish of Siddington with Capesthorne, Cheshire.

The chapel is adjacent to Capesthorne Hall, near the village of Siddington. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. It falls within the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Macclesfield and the deanery of Macclesfield and is one of the Rural Daneside group (benefice) of churches.

Under normal circumstances, there are public services held in the chapel three times a year: Ascension Day, harvest festival and our carol service. To see information about services at Siddington Church, please click here

We were very sorry to say goodbye recently to our vicar, Revd Ian Arch, who has moved on to a new life in Wales with his family. The Rural Daneside Churches are now in the process of finding and appointing a new vicar and, in the meantime, the work of the church continues.

For information about access to Capesthorne Hall and the estate see their website.
