The architect, Medland Taylor of Manchester who built St Thomas' also built various churches and other fabulous buidings in the area. St Thomas' is built of brick where stone is usual and vice versa. The roof is unusual, in that the architect, Mr Medland, created a double or extra pitch to the lower elevation.
The building is blessed with magnificient Bourne Jones/William Morris windows, which are much loved and admired.
