Organist and Director of Music Required St Mary the Virgin, Stoneleigh Estimated Salary: £3,240 p.a. (Self-Employed Basis) Location: Church Lane, Stoneleigh, Coventry, CV8 3DN Musical Requirements: We are seeking an Organist and Director of Music to: • Play for the 11:00am Sunday Service • Cover occasional weekday services (e.g. Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday…) About the Role: St Mary’s is a beautifully preserved Norman church with a well-maintained churchyard that includes a Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery. The church serves a large, picturesque village located just 8 minutes from the A46 between Warwick and Coventry. The church enjoys the support of both a ladies’ choir and a male voice choir. The Nicholson organ, with a detached console, is located in the west-end gallery. See the NPOR entry: https://npor.org.uk/survey/D03160 (please note the Swell flute is 2’, not 4’). A baby grand piano is also available. The organ is robust and versatile, capable of supporting a large congregation for major services such as Nine Lessons and Carols, and Easter Day. It is available for practice and private teaching when the church is not otherwise in use. St Mary’s is one of four churches in a benefice with Ashow, Bubbenhall, and Baginton. On the first Sunday of each month, a united benefice service rotates between the four churches, so the organist at St Mary’s is only required to play for that service three times a year (typically in February, June, and October). There are also opportunities to collaborate with the other three churches in the benefice by mutual agreement, and such involvement is warmly encouraged. Terms: • Self-employed basis • £60 per service • £120 per wedding / funeral • Deputies available • Hymn selection is currently led by the Director of Music • Supportive clergy and generous, welcoming congregation • Sung Communion setting To Apply / For More Information: Contact: John Woodword Email: [email protected] Please note: There is no application form, so please feel free to send in your CV and an expression of interest.
