Maundy Thursday Last Supper with foot washing, stripping of the altar and optional Watch until 10pm

Occurring
for 1 hour, 15 mins
Venue
Newbold Parish Church, St John's
Address
St. John's Road Newbold Chesterfield, S41 8PE, United Kingdom

Maundy Thursday Holy Communion Service at 7.30pm. This is the day when we remember Jesus sharing the Last Supper with his disciples before his death. At the Last Supper Jesus washed the disciples’ feet, which reminds us of the nature of Jesus, who we serve, but also the kind of service we are meant to demonstrate in our love for one another. At the conclusion of the service, the altar is stripped, symbolic of Jesus being stripped. Following the service, we hold a silent vigil until 10pm, and you are welcome to stay for all or just part of the vigil. We leave the service in silence. Everyone is welcome whether you are used to church or not.
