Churchyards are significant places for many people, especially those whose loved ones’ remains rest there. But they are also important to parishioners, historians, archaeologists, ecologists, visitors and many others. Churchyards are consecrated ground; they have been blessed and set aside for burials; and they are places for quiet contemplation and remembrance. They are a part of our national history.
