Christmas Tree Festival

Sunday 06 December 2026 Sunday at for 3 hours
St Margaret of Antioch
Tanfield, DH9 9PX, United Kingdom

Get into the Christmas Spirit at our annual Christmas Tree Festival and Fair.
We are holding a Christmas Tree Festival on 5th and 6th December and are inviting local businesses, organisations and individuals or families to join us to celebrate Christmas by putting up a tree in the church and entering our Christmas Tree Competition!
This community event will give people the opportunity to vote for the best decorated trees. There will be lots of other activities too including children’s craft activities, Carol singing, a large raffle and lots of mince pies!

St Margaret of Antioch

We are a friendly Church with a traditional approach to worship.  St Margaret's is very popular for weddings and baptisms.  Everyone is made welcome, especially children.

We have close links with our local primary school and the children hold two services a year in our church.  They also participate in our children orientated events.

Safeguarding

Our parish of Tanfield is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese of Durham’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO Margaret Goodchild telephone 07732 168705 or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor, Beth Miller email [email protected] . If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
