Dedication

September saw the church and community come together in style to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the dedication of the new building. On the 13th September a joint choir, con-celebrants and Bishop Glyn gathered along with the community and invited guests - which included the H.M. Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham, Mrs Sue Snowdon -  gathered for a con-celebrated Mass to start our celebration of dedication. Bishop Glyn was the chief celebrant and preached about the blessing that the church can give and the place of the church in the community. It was great to welcome so many to this service, which included many children from our newly established Club CK one of whom stepped in at the 11th hour to serve as acolyte. As the service concluded the Lord-Lieutenant unveiled our new plaque and then followed a buffet in which the Lord-Lieutenant spoke about her joy of being invited to the dedication and echoed many of the words Bp Glyn shared during his sermon - She also commented on the security of our future directing our attention to the children from Club CK.

Following on from the Dedication Service we then went on to host 3 free discos for the schools in the parish - Cassop Primary School, Bowburn Infants and Bowburn Juniors - with music being supplied by LT Entertainments.  The children and families all enjoyed a good dance and refreshments.

Our festival ended on the 22nd September with a Family Fun Day with free bouncy castle.  Once again it was a joy to welcome stall holders from our community and to open our doors to the wider community.  Within our parish we have a great wealth of talents and it was great to celebrate this.  Our dedication festival wasn't just about us the church giving thanks but was about us re-dedicating ourselves to the good of our parish and reminding ourselves the reason for our church.

May all who seek Christ here find Him here.
