Church of England Diocese of Durham Barnard Castle with Whorlton

About Us

The Parish Church of St. Mary in Newgate, Barnard Castle (DL12 8NQ) holds services every Sunday (8 am BCP & 10.30am) and Wednesday (10.00 am BCP) with other Sunday services in Whorlton St Mary during the month. In addition we have a well established monthly service on Sundays for young families at 4.00pm.  Please check our web site www.stmarysbarnardcastle.org.uk for details of church groups, children’s work, activities, discipleship courses etc and to view the church calendar. We welcome visitors and local residents to attend services and events, visit our historic church and walk our indoor 5-circuit Labyrinth.  Open every day during daylight hours, we aim to make St. Mary's a welcoming and prayerful space from which we can serve the needs of our busy market town.

A CHRISTIAN PRESENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY

The Mission of the Church is the Mission of Christ

To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom. To teach, baptise and nurture new believers. To respond to human need by loving service. To seek to transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and to pursue peace and reconciliation. To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.

Join us for a service – see “What's on at St. Mary’s” on our web site or notice boards in the porch.
