Statement on the death of HRH Prince Philip

We are saddened in our parishes of St Andrew’s, Winston and St Mary’s, Gainford by the death of HRH The Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh today.

We pray for the repose of his soul, and hold Our Sovereign Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth 11 and the Royal Family in our prayers at this time of deep personal sorrow for them, and that they may be comforted by God's love and the gift of life everlasting.

God of our lives,

we give thanks for the life of Prince Philip,

for his love of our country,

and for his devotion to duty.

We entrust him now to your love and mercy,

through our Redeemer Jesus Christ.

Amen.

Book of Condolence

Sunday Service 11th April 2021 10.45am St Mary's Church, Gainford

The National Anthem will be played and prayers will be said for Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family, and for the repose of HRH The Prince Philip's soul.

Churches Opened for Prayers 

(Covid-19 measures must be strictly followed - guidance is provided on entering our churches)

St Mary's Church, Gainford will be open for private prayer from 12 noon to 4 on Sunday and from 9am to 4pm on Wednesday. Candles may be lit.

St Andrew's Church, Winston will be open for private prayer from 9am to 3pm on Sunday

The St George's Flag will fly half mast above St Mary's Church Tower on Sunday afternoon after prayers have been said
