The Table

The Table is the name of our community café and annexe space. It is is an inclusive place for everybody in our community.

We are a volunteer run social enterprise that tries to source a lot of what we sell ethically and sustainably which means we might be a little slower than the professionals, but we aim to give a warm welcome, provide freshly made home cooked food and have affordable options on a full menu as well. More importantly, as a social enterprise, all profits will go back into this community.

The Table café is open all week.

9.30am - 2.30pm - Monday to Friday

The name comes from Psalm 23, The Lord is My Shepherd, and describes someone finding peace, refreshment, comfort, hope and joy even in difficult times.

The Table connects with the idea of eating together. Jesus was often found eating with both friends and strangers, and is most famously remembered eating at the Last Supper.

All of the milk and flour we use are organic. The coffee beans we use are sustainably sourced and roasted locally by Cracked Bean (another social enterprise). Our tea is also eco-friendly and ethically sourced.

We always try to have gluten free and vegan options available, but are not ashamed of our fantastic cheese and ham toasties with red onion marmalade on the side! There's bound to be something to tempt you in our range of homemade cakes and pastries.

We continue to recruit volunteers to help create a truly local community café. If you are interested then please contact our café manager Nadine, chat to some or the current volunteers or pop in to the church office. Full training with online certification is available.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life and of all abilities, helping unskilled young people into work, supporting differently able people and blessing highly skilled people who just wish to give back into the community. Please be patient with us if we are a little slower and less perfect than professionally run cafes.

As of May 2025 we are now part of the Sunderland 'digital Health Hubs' network. This means we have free high speed internet available as well as 4 laptops that people can borrow to use on site.

open any time the café is, we hope to help people get online.
