“MUSIC FOR A SUMMER EVENING”

Church_news Community_news

This concert will take you on a journey along 150 years of music: from Sullivan to Stamford, from Cole Porter and Rodgers and Hammerstein, through to recent composers such as Karl Jenkins and John Rutter. There will be songs from Victorian and Edwardian eras and down the decades – 1930’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s 70’s and 80’s and as modern as 2018!

There are compositions in Latin, French, ‘ethnic/tribal’ sound and of course in English. There is music composed for a competition, (his “graduation piece”), music written for a church dedication and music from Broadway musicals and films.

What a truly eclectic mix. Stately choral works with hauntingly beautiful numbers and quiet reflective pieces: there are jolly tunes and choruses to click the fingers to and get the feet tapping.

Come along and join us while we ‘Sing’ and ‘make music’ as we ride the ‘Chattanooga Choo Choo’ to take you on a journey to ‘some enchanted evening’. Here we can show you the ‘ol’ razzle dazzle’ while you bask in the ‘lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer’. Enjoy an evening of lovely music – something there for everyone to enjoy……… as the music says ‘Anything Goes.’

Buy your tickets at St Barnabas Community Centre on Sundays from 12 to 1pm.
