The Church invited local groups to decorate a Christmas tree each. These were on display in the Church for the Christmas period. For the first three days of the festival, the Church was open for a few hours every day so people could visit the trees. The groups included: the Rowing Club, The Durham Area Youth Club, Bournmoor Primary School and groups that attend the St Barnabas' Community Centre. Lots of volunteers helped to set up and keep the Church open. 

There was also a  Nativity hunt in the Church yard. Families were asked to look for the characters in the Nativity story, these were hidden all over the Church yard.
