Parish Eucharist

Address

Our Priest in Charge, Revd. Catherine, and the congregation look forward to welcoming you to our regular Church Service.

At a celebration of the Eucharist, the community gathers, asks God’s forgiveness for its sins, listens to readings from the Bible including a reading from one of the Gospels. A sermon is preached and the community prays together. Bread and wine are brought to the the altar, the priest prays the Eucharistic Prayer, and everyone says the Lord’s Prayer together. The community then receives the consecrated bread and wine. At the end of the service, the community is sent out into the world as a ‘living sacrifice’ to live and work to God’s praise and glory.

We follow the service with light refreshments in St. Barnabas' Community Centre.

St Barnabas' Church will be open for Heritage weekend on Saturday September 12th 2026.

We would like to encourage you all to visit the church while it is open that day. Our volunteers will keep the Church building open from 10am to 4pm. The Church is part of our local history. It was commissioned by George Fredrick D'Arcy Lambton in 1867 and dedicated to St Barnabas. Find out more on our website:

In Church, we will also host a Conservation Day, at the same time as our Heritage opening hours. There will be information about local areas to visit Nature and about local projects to conserve nature. God's creation is being cared for by local people and we want you to know where and how to access it.

We are in the process of building a Wild garden in the Church grounds. It will be somewhere for the local community to visit, rest, observe nature and be still. There will be future projects to get involved in. A local Forest school and Rainton Meadows are working with us. Find out more at this event in our 'Cool Space' Church.
