Our Building

Grade II listed, St James' includes 14th-century structural elements and was heavily restored in 1868 by J.P. St Aubyn, which included new roofs and a south arcade. It contains a 13th-century font, a 15th-century wooden screen and a monument to Anne Brunsell (d, 1667), sister of Sir Christopher Wren. The tower features a turret clock, installed in 1877, and the churchyard contains the Grade II listed Village Cross, dating to around 1400, and serves as our war memorial for both World Wars.

In the village shop opposite the church.

The West Window is dedicated to the theme of the Resurrection, and was restored in 1992 following damage from the prevailing west winds. It is noted for it's impressive appearance in the late afternoon, and contains enamel work that suggests a French connection. The East Window is located on the east wall of the chancel; this is a large five-light window featuring tracery in a Gothic -style.
