Thanks to everyone from across the benefice who joined St Nicolas Manea for a service for our pets. It was great to sing some old favourites like All Things Bright and Beautiful. Pets included a hamster (called Sirius Black), two rats, a cuddly cat and plenty of dogs. All the animals were well behaved...Many thanks to Oakley, who is a Pets As Therapy dog, who brought his owner, Ajay, who told how Pets As Therapy connect with people in Askham House, Doddington.
Whether it's a few pounds a month, to something more substantial, we are truly appreciative of the gifts we receive, and we are very careful about how we spend church money. We steward money with care, managing the church, church room, mission, and fabric accounts diligently, and they are, of course, audited every year, too.Parish Giving puts you in control, choosing what you wish to kindly give, and when.To support St Nicolas, visit this link:https://www.parishgiving.org.uk/donors/find-your-parish/manea-st-nicolas-manea/Alternatively, download the attachment on the right of this page, and scan the QR code.St Nicolas' official Parish Giving code is: 140614321Thank you for your support.
We are delighted to announce the Choral Evensong Trust has given St Nicolas Church a grant to help fund a choir to a special service of Choral Evensong on Sunday 7th December 2025 at 6.30pm. This service of Evensong - held amongst the twinkling of fairy lights as the church will be decorated for Christmas - will celebrate the patron saint of our church, St Nicolas, who was a bishop of Myra (southern Turkey) in the 4th century.St Nicolas was the inspiration behind the person we know as Father Christmas, because he gave three gold coins to three girls who so poor that they were unable to get married. This is the origin of why we give presents at Christmas. The renowned Octagon Singers of Ely Cathedral will lead us in a very special service or choral evensong. In this service the choir do most of the singing, though we will have two hymns in which the congregation join in. This service will be the culmination of a year of activities that engage across the village from the school, the Gala and the Parish Council all in celebration of the 150 years since St Nicolas church was opened. The Bishop marked the 150th anniversary of the church on 30 March 2025. If you want to get to know who Jesus is, and why the church continues to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, do get in contact with us using the Get In Touch tab on this website.
