St Edward's, Stow

Welcome to St Edward's, Stow-on-the-Wold.

We are a medieval building that is both a tourist destination with our famous North Door and a faithful and prayerful worshipping community.

We are open every day from 9am to 5pm in the summer and 9am to dusk in the winter.

All are welcome at our 10.30 am Sunday service which is a mixture of traditional and more informal styles. All our services have music on the organ or piano.

Our vision is to be a Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.

We aim to:

Deepen worship – ensuring our services, space, and music lift hearts and minds to God.

Turn outwards – we will embrace the words of Jesus in Matthew 28:19 to make disciples of all nations as we share stories of faith with visitors from around the UK and beyond.

Celebrate beauty and heritage – maintaining and developing our building as a place of worship, history and pilgrimage.

Act for creation and justice – through stewardship, sustainability, and community action in our church building and grounds.

We host regular concerts which vary from classical music to more popular offerings as well as hosting the Music at Stow Festival in September. Please check our events section for up to date information.

If you are bringing a tour group to the church please check with us that we are open as we are a working church and may be shut to visitors for weddings and funerals. We do ask for a donation of £4 per person for visitors to enable us to keep this beautiful church maintained today and for the future.
