The Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ

Occurring
for 1 hour
Venue
St Martin's Church, Barholm-with-Stowe
Address
Main Road Barholm Stamford, PE9 4RA, United Kingdom

We have at St Martin’s, Barholm with Stowe limited occasions to celebrate Holy Communion together in our church building.
Usually, this opportunity is only when there is a fifth Sunday in the month.

The exception to this is on Thursday May 29th at 7pm when, we will celebrate Holy Communion together for:

The Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ

Ascension Day is the 40th day of Easter, it occurs 39 days after Easter Sunday and is one of the earliest Christian festivals dating back to 68AD.

We read in the New Testament that Jesus Christ met several times with His disciples during the 40 days after His resurrection to instruct them on how to carry out His teachings.

On the day of His ascension, Jesus commissions His disciples to continue His work. He promises the gift of the Holy Spirit, and then He is no longer among them in the flesh. The Ascension is therefore closely connected with the theme of mission.

This season of joy and brightness is represented in our use of white or gold liturgical decorations and vestments.

Incense will be used during this service.
