Ascension Day is the 40th day of Easter.

It occurs 39 days after Easter Sunday and is one of
the earliest Christian festivals dating back to 68AD.

We read in the New Testament, that Jesus Christ
met several times with His disciples during the 40
days after His resurrection to instruct them on how
to carry out His teachings.

On the day of His ascension, Jesus commissions His disciples to continue His work. He promises the gift
of the Holy Spirit, and then He is no longer among
them in the flesh.

The Ascension is therefore closely connected with
the theme of mission.

This season of joy and brightness is represented in
our use of white or gold liturgical decorations and vestments.

Incense will be used during this service and Holy Communion will be celebrated.

St Michael and All Angels Uffington

Thank you for taking an interest in the Church of St Michael and All Angels, Uffington.

We have a regular Holy Communion Service in Uffington Church Every Sunday Morning at 11am.

The exception to this is when there is a Fifth Sunday in the month when an 11am Holy Communion Service will be held at West Deeping and for those that prefer an earlier service there is a 9am Service of Holy Communion at St Martin's, Barholm with Stowe

Please stay after the service as we join together in fellowship for coffee, tea and biscuits!
