Welcome to St Martins Stamford Baron.
The Church is one of the five surviving mediaeval Churches in Stamford and lies to the south of the River Welland in an area settled by Anglo-Saxons in 918. It houses the tombs of the Cecil family including William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Elizabeth I. It also has some fine mediaeval stained glass windows. Burials include the Dutch painter William Wissing(1687) and Daniel Lambert (1809) in the detached part of the churchyard.
The parish of Stamford Baron: St Martin is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer, PSO. The Diocese of Lincoln’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
