We are delighted to have the Lincolnshire Film Archive back on Friday 16th October to show us more fascinating films of Lincolnshire. Commencing at 7pm, the film show starts with footage from exactly 100 years ago with a trip to Skegness and a group of business men having a fun day out in the Wash! Then we move to the end of the war and see farming at Butterwick with horse power and early tractors at work. The Coronation celebration through Boston in 1953 will bring back fond memories of local businesses and vintage machinery parading alongside Central Park. A look at Lincolnshire’s unique wildlife habitats and the county’s nature is seen in 1967. And the famous Spalding Flower Parade is featured in all its glory at the peak of its popularity in 1979, with a fascinating look behind the scenes at how the event is brought to life.Free Entry. An amazing evening of songs from the sixties entertained a full church on 13th June! The audience were entertained by a vast range of songs to sing along to, tap their feet to, and even dance to, bringing back memories for many! Refreshments were served during the break, and a raffle was held. The evening was a great success and a massive £742 was raised towards the maintenance of the church building. The Coastal Community Choir has been established for 11 years and has supported many local events and charities over that time – this was their third visit to St. Margaret’s Church. The choir meet at St. Andrew’s Church, Butterwick on a Thursday evening from 6.45pm to 8pm. New members are always welcome – no auditions required, no fees, just a love of singing. Sibsey Community Library is based in St. Margaret's Church and is now three years old! Open every day from 9 am to 4 pm, it provides a wide range of fiction books for older and young people. It is proving to be well used by all age groups.Thanks to the generosity of donated paperbacks there is a continuing renewal of books. A simple system of 'choose a book or books, take home and read, and then return at your convenience', works well. For younger children there is seating with a box of books to browse through providing a quiet time with Mums, Dads or Grandparents.We were delighted , when recently, three of our volunteers received Community Awards for their work with the library, from Sibsey Parish Council.If you have not yet visited the library, drop in to see what is on offer. You will not be disappointed.
