St Mark's is very much a local church. Most of our parishioners can walk to church which makes us unique in this part of the world where many people commute to churches. Our USP (sorry the vicar was in marketing once upon a time) is that we are prayerful and contemplative.
We are local people worshiping locally. We don't have professional level music, cathedral style flowers and loads of techie stuff but we are told that we are one of the friendliest churches in the area. We are a prayerful church of flawed and caring people who are seeking how to make Jesus Christ visible in their lives and the community that surrounds us. We make mistakes but that is OK because we are loved by God.
We are an outward facing church and this is seen through our parish community hub. Sheddington meets on our site on a Saturday, we have a wildflower meadow which will soon have bees, St John's Ambulance and 10th Teddington Scouts meet on our site as do a number of classes for adults and children. In the winter of 2023 we have opened 'Warm Hub Wednesdays' with a space to get warm and have a cuppa and chat or just warm up by one of the heaters.
If you would like us to pray for you then please get in contact with the vicar Revd Karen Wellman at [email protected] or on 0208 9774067.
"The parish of St. Mark, Teddington is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of London’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services."
