We have always provided space for community events but when the old hall burnt down we found ourselves unable to host as much. Over the past five years we have taken a good hard look at ourselves and our local community. As a result we have started working with more community groups to provide events and space. This has included the Metropolitan Police Safer Neighborhood Team with community gardening and with Sheddington who are making and mending on site. They now have a community garden on site and much more.
Dance groups, theatre groups, choirs and the local schools have all made use of the church, small hall and grounds as well as hosting children's parties and our local uniformed organisations.
We aren't able to replace the hall but we can make better use of the space we have. In 2018 we took the pews out and this year we are creating a kitchen, adding a ramp and installing fully accessible toilets (that's them in the picture.) Work was halted during the lockdown and has now restarted so we are hoping that by the autumn we will have a fully accessible community space for events and community use.
We are now a community hub!
If you are in need of community space we would love to work with you. Contact us via the office on 0208 9774067 or email [email protected]
