Nine Lessons and Carols

A Christmas service of Christian worship that tells the story of the Nativity through a series of nine readings from the Bible, interspersed with carols and hymns. Originating at Truro Cathedral in the early 1900s, it was famously adapted for King's College, Cambridge in 1918, and is now celebrated across Flixton via this annual event at St Michael's Church.

Scratch Nativity

Our "scratch nativity" is an unrehearsed, improvised retelling of the Christmas story where participants spontaneously act out the roles of the nativity characters, often in costumes, using props provided on the spot. People are encouraged to come dressed as a character, making it a fun, inclusive, and creative way to celebrate. It will include singing Christmas carols and a narrator guiding the action.

Our annual Christmas carol service, where attendees can request their favourites to sing on Christmas Eve. If you wish, you can also stay to attend our Midnight Mass service, which starts at 11.30 p.m.

Midnight Mass

Midnight Mass is the first service of Christmastide. It is celebrated on the night of Christmas Eve, traditionally taking place at around midnight. Our service will include carols, prayers, a sermon, and Holy Communion.

Christmas Day Holy Communion
