Christenings, Weddings & Funerals

Our church is here to help you at the special times in your life, whether they are occasions of joy or sadness. You can find information here about how to go about organising a baptism (christening), wedding or funeral. For more details or to make a booking, please contact our Revd Cath, or one of the churchwardens (see Who's who for contact details).

Christenings (baptism):

In the baptism of children, parents are thanking God for his gift of life, deciding to start their child on the journey of faith and asking for the Church’s support. Teenagers and adults who have not been baptized as a child may also be baptized as a sign of their entry into the Christian faith. For more information, visit the Church of England website.

Baptisms normally take place on the last Sunday of the month at 12.45 pm. There is no fee for baptisms. If you would like to know more or wish to make a booking, please contact our churchwardens.

Weddings:

If you are considering a church wedding, we would love to help you create a service which is meaningful and personal to you. Further information and guidance on the marriage service itself is also available from the Church of England website.

If you would like to know more about having a service at St Andrew's or wish to make a booking, please contact our churchwardens.  If you are looking to get married and would also like to have your children baptised, we are able to have both of these ceremonies in the same service! Just let us know if you would like this.

Funerals

A funeral gives an opportunity for friends and family to express their grief, to give thanks for the life which has now completed its journey in this world and to commend the person into God’s keeping.  If you would like to hold a funeral service in our church, let your Funeral Director know and they can make the arrangements for you and they can also advise you of the fees. If you would prefer a service at a cemetery or crematorium, one of our ministers would be very happy to take this service for you - just let your Funeral Director know.

If you would like to talk to someone, whether it is about practical arrangements or about how you are feeling, please contact Revd Cath. For more information, you might like to visit the Church of England website
