The Church is normally open for visitors until 4pm each day. You are very welcome to come and enjoy our ancient church.
Getting here
St Michael’s is set in the market town of Alnwick, Northumberland, 32 miles from Berwick-upon-Tweed and 34 miles from Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The Church is located on Bailiffgate, in the centre of the town, near Alnwick Castle.
The town is well-served by a variety of transport:
Road: Alnwick is less than a mile from the A1. There are car parks around the town, which are usually free for disc holders.
Rail: Alnwick is served by the East Coast mainline from London to Edinburgh. The nearest station is Alnmouth, four miles from Alnwick. Buses and taxis are available from the station to Alnwick.
Bus: There are bus stops and a bus station in Alnwick, with buses connecting Alnwick to nearby towns as well as to Berwick and Newcastle. The X15 and X18 buses run regularly from the Haymarket Station in Newcastle, and the X18 also connects Alnmouth Station with Alnwick.
Air and Sea: Newcastle International Airport and the Port of Tyne are 35 miles away.
